Church building
église Saint-Nicolas de Guiry-en-Vexin
Saint-Nicolas Church is a parish Catholic church located in Guiry-en-Vexin, France. It would have been raised on the foundations of a previous 13th century church. His plan is in the shape of a cross, without a side.
The bell tower dominates the facade and occupies part of the first span of the nave. It's the opposite of a masterpiece. With the western gate and the first two spans of the nave, it dates back to 1557, and displays the Renaissance style.
The rest of the central ship and the southern crusillon date from the first half of the 16th century, and are of flamboyant Gothic style. There are the most elaborate windows in the French Vexin. The north crusillon is the oldest part of the church.
It dates back to the 14th century and its windows are of late radiant style, but the vault is also flamboyant, and subdivided into three times three vaults. This comes from the particular plan of the transept, which has free pillars to the north and south of the cross, and two vaults for the cross and the south cross. This specificity is largely in the interest of the church, which was classified as a historical monument by order of August 25, 1942.
