About

Saint-Denis Church is a parish Catholic church located in Thillay, Val-d'Oise, France. The parish was not attested until the 13th century, and the circumstances of its foundation were unknown. The present church dates almost entirely from the sixteenth century, and is representative of the reconstruction after the Hundred Years War.

Église Saint-Denys (Le Thillay)

The date of the first consecration in 1545 is consistent with the flamboyant and somewhat repetitive Gothic architecture that dominates the building. The date of the second consecration in 1583 could correspond to the completion of the vault of warheads, as suggested by the richly worked Renaissance vault keys. These are practically the only elements that have been the subject of a decorative effort.

The church as a whole is well built and very homogeneous, but with a very simple bill. Its irregular plan with a single lower side to the north and a short chapel to the south, and the few ancient elements of its furniture, add to its interest. Saint-Denis Church was listed as a historical monument by order of 5 November 1965.
