The Mausoleum of Lanuéjols is a Gallo-Roman funeral monument located in the municipality of Lanuéjols, in the French department of Lozère (in the Occitan region). It is built on the model of a mausoleum-temple in the second half of the 2nd century AD by a rich family who certainly live nearby. Dedicated to the memory of two of the sponsors' sons, it is also called "the Pomponii Mausoleum", the name of this rich family and, in Occitan, "Lou Mazelet".
While this monument is the most famous of Lanuéjols, it is part of a funerary complex that also certainly includes an altar in front of which funeral or commemorative ceremonies were probably held, as well as a third building not visible but probably even larger than the Pomponii mausoleum and which could be the tomb of the parents. Its particular topographical location has led on several occasions to partial burial under the sediments from the surrounding reliefs left by a stream, which required several clearing sites.
