About

Saint-Fraimbault Church is located in Lassay-les-Châteaux, Mayenne. It must not be confused with the church of the village of Saint-Fraimbault-de-Lassay, at the eastern exit of the city, where a community was established. This church, one of the corner stones of the facade is a tombstone marked with a patted cross strongly resembling a clover and chalice, symbols associated with Saint Fraimbault, is older.

Saint Fraimbault : fram baldus de laceio, lance holder of the lake. It is linked to this first church and is honored in the new church in the center of Lassay. The above symbols and the name suggest that he could have been the inspirational figure of Lancelot of the lake (lancelot: lance carrier, the valet clover and his search for the grail).
