In 1977 the association of Belgian Friends of the Steam locomotive (BVS) was founded, meanwhile renamed 'Stoomtrain Dendermonde-Puurs' (abbreviated SDP), with the aim of maintaining and deploying historic railway equipment for tourist trips between Baasrode-Noord station and Puurs.
