menhir de Montcorbeau
The Menhir de Montcorbeau, also known as Menhir du Pré de l'Étang, is a menhir located in Couesmes-Vaucé. It dates from the Neolithic period and was classified as historical monuments in 1971. It is located at the place called the Pre de l'Etang. It is a 2.25 m high menhir, about cylindrical at the foot with a fairly wide bevel top. Unfortunately, the years were right about this megalith by amputating it from its summit. However, this menhir is rich in history by a legend, which was summarized as follows:
" On Christmas night, at the time of the 12 strokes of midnight, this stone turns on itself, and whoever wants to see this show gets a pair of slaps, forcing him to turn his head, so as not to observe this phenomenon. »
