église Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Jouy-sous-Thelle
Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Church is a parish Catholic church located in Jouy-sous-Thelle, Oise department, France. It was probably built on the initiative of Cardinal Nicolas de Pellevé, the main leader of the Catholic league, native of Jouy-sous-Thelle, between 1572 and 1588. Due to the seizure of the cardinal's property in 1585, the nave remained unfinished, and the vaults were not completed until 1606.
Among the other Renaissance churches in the region, the church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul is distinguished by its grounded plan, and the absence of any Gothic influence. It was classified as historical monuments by order of January 10, 1921, then the modern porch with the altarpiece it housed was classified in turn by order of August 11, 1932. Today, the church is affiliated with the parish of Sainte-Thérèse in Auneuil, and Sunday Masses are celebrated on the Saturday evening preceding the first Sunday of the month.
