About

The covered driveway of Trelan is a covered driveway located in Saint-Marcel, Morbihan, France.

History: According to L. Marsille, the monument was damaged by the removal of stones during the construction of the dam of the mill of the Nea, 1.5 km away. The dolmen is classified as historical monuments by decree of 10 February 1964.

Description: The covered aisle was built with shale blocks, while the local bedrock is made of puddingue, which involves transport over about 200 m from the nearest extraction site. The gangway is 18 m long with an average width of 1.5 m and an estimated height of 1.2 m. It is bounded by sixteen orthostats, only those on the west side having remained in place, east side they have disappeared or are inverted into the aisle. Orthostats on the west side overlap. The driveway is oriented north-south, with an opening to the south. The north side is closed by a rather monumental bedside slab. Two cover tables remained in place. The tumulus was bounded by small shale slabs, some of which are still visible.
