Château-Rocher, still called castle fort of Blot-le-Rocher, is a medieval castle in ruins located in Saint-Rémy-de-Blot, France.
Location: The castle is located on the commune of Saint-Rémy-de-Blot at 438 m above sea level, on a 150 m cliff overlooking the Sioule, in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
History: Its objective was to monitor the Sioul Valley and the Menat Bridge, an important crossing point. A castral mot was built on the site as early as the 9th century. The first fortress was built at the end of the 11th century. The building and enlargement of the castle continued between the 13th century, after the conquest of the Auvergne by Philippe Auguste on Guy II of Auvergne, and the 15th century. The land of Blot was given in apanage by Archambaud IV to his son Pierre de Bourbon, known as Pierre de Blot, who lived in 1169. Another Pierre de Blot succeeded him in 1218. He created Blot's branch. Between 1300 and 1350, this branch will become part of the Chauvigny family by the marriage of Catherine de Blot, the only heiress of Gauvain de Blot, and Guillemin de Chauvigny.
