Saint-Martin Church is a Catholic parish church located in Venette, Oise department, France. It seems to go back to the first half of the 12th century, but very few tangible elements remain of this period, including the old antifix at the top of the gable of the western facade, and the two flat foothills of the bedside. More evocative are the two arches of the choir, which are assumed to date from the beginning of the thirteenth century.
Despite its plan of apparent simplicity, which fits into a rectangle, the building is rather heterogeneous. Probably after being damaged during the Hundred Years' War, it is largely rebuilt from the beginning of the sixteenth century, but this construction is done in successive stages, and keeping part of the old structures. Thus, apart from the first two spans of the nave and the lower side, not two spans are similar, and there is no symmetry between the north and south elevations of the central vessel.
This complexity of the forms gives a certain interest to the building, but the architectural qualities of its interior space are limited to the moulding of certain arcades and pillars, to the profile...
