Montpalais necropolis

The necropolis of Monpalais is a neolithic site consisting of six dolmens and a tumulus located in the commune of Taizé-Maulais. It is one of the most important megalithic sites in the Deux-Sèvres department. The architecture of the buildings reflects various influences (dolmens of the type Angelvin and Angoumoisin). The found archaeological material, sometimes very abundant, corresponds to several distinct neolithic cultures (Chasseen, Peu-Richard, Campaniforme).
