About

The Saint-Pierre church is located in Bonningues-lès-Calais, Pas-de-Calais. Around 1110, a church was mentioned when its rights were transferred by Adèle de Selvesse, one of the founders of Ardres, to his uncle Milon, first bishop of Thérouanne. The oldest part of the present building is the choir dating from the 12th century.

The church was rebuilt in 1619 in the Romanesque style. The bell tower, which collapsed in 1946, was rebuilt and the roof restored. The bell dates back to 1528.

A restoration campaign was undertaken in 2001 (choir and foreword, drip walls, vaults, outside access to the bell tower, consolidation of the belfry, analysis of the altarpiece, nave, beam of glory, and stained glass).
