About

The chapel Saint-Pierre-de-Léneyrac (or former hermitage Saint-Pierre-de-Léneyrac) is a pre-Roman chapel located in Ceyras, France. Together with the chapels Saint-Laurent de Moussan, Saint-Nazaire de Roujan, Saint-Michel de Sournia, Saint-Martin-de-Fenoller, Saint-Jérôme d'Argelès and Saint-Georges de Lunas, it is a witness to the pre-Roman architecture of Wisigothic tradition in Septimanie, a region which corresponds to the current regions of Roussillon and Languedoc which have been an integral part of the Wisigothic kingdom of Toulouse (419-507) and the Wisigothic kingdom of Toledo (507-711).

History: The chapel, built in the 10th and 11th centuries, is a former oratory annexed to Saint-Étienne-de-Rougas. It was mentioned in 1275 as Ecclesia paræcialis S. Stephani by Rogatio cum oratorio S. Petri ei annexo.

Heritage status: The chapel has been listed as historic monuments since 28 July 1999.
