Lombrives

The cave of Lombrives is a cave whose main entrance is located in the territory of the municipality of Ussat, three kilometers south of Tarascon-sur-Ariège in the department of Ariège (France). Its network spans more than 7 kilometers. Only part of the cave welcomes tourist visitors.

The undeveloped site has been registered since 1943. The cave hosted the Deep Time mission in March-April 2021: An expedition led by explorer Christian Clot and the Human Adaptation Institute research centre: 15 people (7 men and 6 women) in the Lombrices cave for 40 days without access to time or daylight and without any outside contact for unprecedented scientific experiments.
