chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Bois de Villers-sous-Chalamont
The Notre-Dame-des-Bois Chapel is a religious building, protected from historical monuments, located in Villers-sous-Chalamont in the French department of Doubs.
History: The building of the chapel was prior to the 15th century and would be a vestige of an ancient site, attested by the discovery of funeral urns dated from the lower Middle Ages. During the years it underwent restoration campaigns, especially in 1850 by the bisontin architect Pompée for the western facade and the surroundings, and in 1914 for the interiors. The chapel was listed as historical monuments in 2010.
Relationship: The church is part of the parish of Levier which is attached to the diocese of Besançon.
The outside has a bell tower; Inside, the nave and choir are two vaulted spans.
Some elements of the interior furniture were classified as objects of historical monuments in 1978: a sculpture of the virgin majesty and the altar.
