The Château de Fontaine-Française, located in the center of its village (Fontaine-Française-Côte-d'Or), in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, is an 18th century castle (1754-1758) built for Francois Bollioud de Saint-Jullien, advisor to King Louis XV and receiver general of the clergy of France. The latter wanted to build a castle in style at the time and entrusted the works to the Parisian architect Souhard. They will last four years and will cost about 338,000 pounds at the time.
The castle with its gardens composed of 372 lindens carved in portico and topiary of yews and buis has been classified as historical monuments since 12 November 1945. Orangery and garden are registered by order of 6 October 1993, then the castle park is registered by order of 20 February 2017 and classified by order of 8 April 2023. The park also won the remarkable Garden label in 2015.
