cimetière britannique d'Acheux
The Acheux Military Cemetery is a military cemetery of the First World War, located on the territory of the commune of Aceux-en-Amienois, in the department of the Somme, northeast of Amiens.
Location: This cemetery is located to the west of the village, close to the last houses.
Located a few kilometres from the front line, it is in this area that field hospitals were established to treat the wounded evacuated from the area of fighting during the Battle of the Somme. The Aceux Cemetery began in July 1916. It was abandoned in November and remained so until the Germans launched their Spring Offensive, which brought back the Allied front line less than 8 kilometres east of Acheux in April 1918. New burials took place at that time. The cemetery now has 180 graves of the First World War.
Characteristics: This cemetery has a nearly rectangular plan of 40 m by 20. It is closed by a stone wall on three sides and a hedge of shrubs. The cemetery was designed by N.A. Rew.
