About

Château-Chalon is a former medieval castle that disappeared from the 9th and 13th centuries, from Château-Chalon in the Jura in Franche-Comté. Château-Chalon owes his name to Jean I of Chalon (1190-1267), Count of Chalon, founder of the House of Chalon-Arlay in the thirteenth century. This ancient medieval village is currently classified as Les Plus Beaux Villages de France and the Cités de Characterère de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and is one of the flagships of the Jura vineyard with its appellation Château-Chalon (AOC).
