Amnéville Zoo is a French zoological park located between Metz and the border with Luxembourg, near Amnéville. Amnéville Zoological Park / Amnéville Zoo, despite its name, is located in the nearby municipality of Hagondange. About 2000 animals of 360 species are present on 18 hectares, including gorillas and orangutans.
The zoological park project is strongly supported by the city's mayor, Jean Kiffer, and started in 1986. It was founded and directed by Michel Louis until 2020. During this period the park is a cooperative and participatory society.
In 2020 it became a simplified share company, owned by the Prudentia Capital investment fund (82%). He has since been led by Albane Pillure, in collaboration with Michel Louis (18%). As one of the most frequent zoos in France, until November 2020 it was the only park to present a tiger taming show, Tiger World, a particularity that had been widely denounced by animal protection associations.
