menhirs de Caurel
The alignment of Bel-Air is megalithic alignment, now ruined, located in Caurel in the French department of Côtes-d'Armor.
Protection: The two surviving menhirs were classified as historical monuments in 1952.
Description: This is an old likely megalithic alignment now totally ruined. Five menhirs had already been destroyed by the end of the 19th century, one remained standing and a second lying at about 5 m. The remaining menhir, as a slate schist, was overthrown in 1949-1950 and its base split in the fall. This thin, flattened menhir is 4.10 m long by 2 m wide and has a thickness of 0.34 m. The second menhir is 4 m long. In 1952, on the occasion of their classification, they were considered to be straightened, but this was not done. In 1955, the owner moved them with other blocks of stones of the same type to the edge of the field where they gradually disappeared into the slope.
