Church building
église Saint-Paul-Aurélien de Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau
The church of Saint-Paul-Aurelien (17th century) is located in Lampaul-Ploudalmezeau in Finistère. It is dedicated to Saint Paul Aurélien (or Pol in Breton). It holds its originality from its bell tower, built from 1626 to 1635.
Listed on the inventory of historical monuments in 1926, it is one of the most beautiful in Brittany. Inside, there are some remarkable statues such as the Virgin Mary crushing a demon eating the apple (XVI century), Saint Pol Aurélien, Saint Eloi or Saint Barbe. Attached to the church, the fountain dedicated to Saint Pol Aurélien restored in 1952 completes the whole.
It was destroyed in part by lightning in 1855 and restored in 1856 by Le Guerranic.
