About

The church Saint-Méen de Cancale is a religious building located in Cancale, in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. It has been listed as historical monuments since December 29, 1982.

The church was built by the engineer and architect Simeon Garangeau between 1715 and 1727 at the site of a primitive church dating back to the Middle Ages. Too small, it was replaced by the present Saint-Méen de Cancale church, built in 1875 by architect Alfred-Louis Frangeul. Since the 1980s, it has been home to Cancale's cinema and the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions.
