Monumental cross
croix de Cleyssac
The Cross of Cleyssac is a monumental cross located in Malrevers, France.
Generalities: La Croix is located in the hamlet of Cleyssac, near the road Malrevers-Rosières on the department 71, on the territory of the commune of Malrevers, in the department of Haute-Loire, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in France.
History: The cross is dated the 15th century. The cross is listed as historical monuments by order of 11 June 1930.
The cross rests on a monolithic cubic base at the corners. The whole is also monolithic: the barrel and the cross are cut with one holding in the sandstone. The cross drum has a strong conicity and a rectangular section. The crusillon is of very cut shape. At the iconographic level, the cross presents on one side a cross Christ with a skirt resting under a lamp. On the other hand, a Virgin, in majesty, is represented and, on her knees, a child whose proportions are abnormally distorted. On the arms of the cruise, there are also representations of the moon and the sun.
