chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Consolation de Thiézac
The Notre-Dame-de-Consolation chapel is a chapel located in France in the commune of Thiézac (Cantal), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
History: Probably built between the late 12th and early 13th centuries, the chapel was restored in the 15th century, possibly after a Marian apparition according to tradition. It was enlarged in the 17th century and transformed into a temple of Reason in 1794. Its painted decoration of 1667 was restored in the Second Empire and then around 1930.
Protection: The chapel is classified as historical monuments by order of 30 December 1980.
Description: The building consists of a single vaulted nave, ending with a cul-de-four apse, closed by a bulkhead against which the altar is installed. The absence of a model makes precise dating difficult.
