Obélisques de Figeac
Figeac needles are two medieval obelisks located in the territory of the commune of Figeac in the French department of Lot. Ranked as historical monuments from the first list in 1840, the needles are similar in their architecture, but slightly different in their dimensions. These two monuments, the needle of the Cingle and the needle of Lissac (or of Nayrac), would, according to tradition, be pillars delimiting the lands of the abbey Saint-Sauveur, being accompanied by two other obelisks whose existence is hypothetical.
Location: The two obelisks are located in the immediate vicinity of the city of Figeac, in the Lot department, in the Occitanie region of France. The ring needle is located about 1300 meters south of the city at the so-called needle point, not far from the departmental road 802. The Lissac needle is located about 1700 meters west of the village, on the so-called Lissac road.
Traditionally, needle building dates back to the 12th or 13th centuries, but there is no source of time to affirm it. At most, the similarity with other monuments of this type...
