borne-colonne de Brienne
Brienne is a road terminal of the former regime, located in Brienne, in the French department of Saône-et-Loire. Located at the beginning of the eighteenth century, it indicates, engraved on the column, possible routes from Brienne.
Presentation: Located west of Cuisery and the bridge de la Seille, at the "guidon" (carrefour des D 975 et D 971), the limestone column marked the junction of the large east-west transversal no. 34 of Franche-Comté (near Beaurepaire) in Bourbonnais and Nivernais (Bourbon-Lancy) with road No. 37 from Bourg to Chalon by Romenay, Cuisery and Simandre. The terminal also designates the direction of Besançon by Louhans, Lons-le-Saunier, Poligny, Arbois, and as secondary direction Saint-Amour (Jura). Well highlighted by a flowered area of tourist information, stone and inscriptions are significantly degraded This pillar dates from the 18th century, and is the subject of an inscription as historical monuments in 1939.
