Pierre de Matafin

The Matafin Stone is a legendary stone located on the territory of the commune of Chardonnay, in Haut-Mâconnais, in the French department of Saône-et-Loire, a few hundred meters north of the departmental road from Tournus to Lugny from which it is accessible. It was wrongly identified as a dolmen at the beginning of the twentieth century, but this hypothesis was reversed by an archaeological excavation carried out in 1980.
