Church building
église Saint-Pierre de Parçay-Meslay
Saint-Pierre Church is a church located in the commune of Parçay-Meslay in Indre-et-Loire. It was preceded by a wooden church built in the late tenth century. The present park building, under the name of Saint Peter, was built during the second half of the 11th century.
The church of Saint Peter was under the control of Marmoutier Abbey. The structures of the building dedicated to Saint Peter are, in their present form, fitted with stone and stone-stones. The church of Parçay-Meslay has a rather sober and clean architectural design.
In 1906, during the inventory crisis, the parish priest and parishioners of Parçay-Meslay showed strong opposition and barricaded Saint Peter's church. The fresco of Christ in majesty was ranked in 1928 and the church was inscribed in 1994. The apse of the building was registered on the cultural heritage inventory in 1928...
