The Abbey of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul is a bénédictine abbey founded in the 7th century and located in Montier-en-Der in the French department of Haute-Marne, diocese of Châlons-en-Champagne. The abbey of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul was consecrated on November 26, 998 by the bishop of Châlons-sur-Marne. Today it has become the parish church, also known as Saint-Rémy (the patron saint of the parish). The pre-Romane nave is among the oldest in France, and the choir is one of the few examples of Champagne Gothic architecture with Laon and Noyon.
History: The location of the future abbey, located between the Voire and the Magnentin ("high menson"), is that of the hunting lodge or marina named Puisies, Puisy or Puisé and owned by Childeric II. On the recommendation of Saint Léger, bishop of Autun, and Almaric mayor of the Palace, Chilpéric II gave the property to Berchaire, abbot of Hautvillers.
