The Blue Penitents Chapel or Saint-Benoît Chapel is a Catholic chapel located in Sarlat-la-Canéda, France.
Location: The chapel is located in Sarlat-la-Canéda, in the French department of Dordogne.
History: Little information is available on the origin of this chapel located south of the capitular hall in the southeast corner of the cloister. It can date from the end of the 12th century and served as a chapel of the conversing brothers of the Benedictine abbey that preceded the creation of the bishopric of Sarlat. It was deeply tormented in the sixteenth century as the Chronicles of John Tarde show. The chapel had to be practically rebuilt in the 17th century on what remained of the walls. She then served for the blue penitents. In 1639 Louis de Salignac, bishop of Sarlat, was buried "in Saint-Benoît" because he was a colleague of the blue penitents. It has been part of the cathedral and forms one of the sides of the Chanoines court. It belongs to the old buildings of the monastery.
