About

Saint-Laurent de Saint-Laurent-en-Gâtines is a parish church in the commune of Saint-Laurent-en-Gâtines, in the French department of Indre-et-Loire. This former strong house and seigneurial residence of the Abbés de Marmoutier, built in the 15th century and also used as a tithe barn, is profoundly redesigned in the second half of the 19th century to replace the old church that falls into ruins. The interior spaces are redesigned, an apse is built and a staircase tower transformed into a bell tower. The modified building was listed as a historic monument in 1927.
