About

Saint-Julien-la-Tourette Chapel is a building located in Saint-Pal-de-Mons, France.

Location: The chapel is located in the territory of the commune of Saint-Pal-de-Mons, on a promontory above the Dunière River, on the site of Laval about twenty minutes walk from the village of Villedemont, in the department of Haute-Loire, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Description: The chapel dates from the Romanesque period, probably built at the end of the 11th century, located in a wild natural site, degraded at the time of the Revolution, sold as national property. It was surrounded by a "rural" priory dependent on the Abbey of La Chaise-Dieu. This rudimentary chapel has been a place of pilgrimage since the 19th century, mainly on the occasion of the feast of Pentecost. The municipality has just carried out work, repair of the roof, from the interior. The ancient statues that adorned this chapel are placed in the sacristy of the parish church.

The chapel is listed as historical monuments by order of 24 May 1996.
