église du Saint-Esprit des Guibertes
The Church of the Holy Spirit of the Guibertes is a church located at Monêtier-les-Bains in the Hautes-Alpes, France. It is dedicated to the Holy Spirit and Saint Anthony. St.Antoine was widely invoked against skin diseases, plague and the "mal of the ardent" or gangrenous ergotism.
It has been listed as historic monuments since 1988. Saint Anthony lived in the third century in Egypt. He retired to the desert where he lived more than a hundred years.
Often tempted by the devil, he resists and welcomes many disciples. He is the founder of Christian monasticism. His relics were transferred to the eleventh century in Dauphiné.
Its attributes are a pig, tau, fire, a book. Saint Anthony was invoked against the evil of the ardent, linked to the ergot of rye, a fearsome and incurable convulsive disease at the time.
