St. Verena Chapel

Sainte-Vérène Chapel is located in the French commune of Enchenberg, in the Moselle department in the canton of Bitche. Located below the village, at the height of the last houses, the chapel is a spiritual highlight of the Country of Bitche. Local tradition attributes patronage to St.Vérène, a saintly anachorète from Switzerland, to the many emigrants who came to the region at the end of the seventeenth century, whereas it is in fact a cult whose introduction dates back to medieval times. The chapel has been listed as a historical monument since 27 February 1996.
