The Albert Communal Cemetery Extension (Albert British Military Cemetery) is a military cemetery in the municipality of Albert, in the department of the Somme, north-east of Amiens.
Location: This cemetery, implanted intramural, adjoins the communal cemetery, on D 939, Rue du 11 novembre.
History: The city of Albert remained in the hands of the French forces against the German advance on the Somme in September 1914. The defence of the city was then entrusted to the British in the summer of 1915. The first battles took place from 1 to 16 July 1916 during the Battle of Albert. The city passed into the hands of the Germans during the Battle of the Keiser on 26 April 1918, and before its definitive recovery by the 8th East Surreys on 22 August at the Battle of Albert (1918). The city was completely destroyed by artillery fire. This cemetery was used by combat units and field ambulances from August 1915 to November 1916, especially in September 1916 and later, when field ambulances were concentrated in Albert.
