The belfry of Amiens is a belfry located in the town centre of Amiens. It has been included in the additional inventory of Historic Monuments since 7 August 1926 and then in the UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Belgium and France Beffrois since 2005. It is nicknamed "Ch' Bédouf", in picard, by the Amienese.

History: Its origin dates back to the establishment of the commune of Amiens under King Louis VI the Gros. It is mentioned for the first time in an arbitral award issued by the chapter of Amiens in 1244.

Birth of the commune: The commune was born in 1113 and is recognized by Bishop Geoffroy and King Louis VI. On the other hand, the Count of Amiens Enguerrand de Boves and his son Thomas de Marle refused to recognize the commune. Guibert de Nogent relates the advent of the municipality of Amiens in its autobiography and Suger the military intervention of the king. The opponents of the commune are cut off in the Castillon, a fortress inherited from the Roman era. Louis VI came in person, in 1115 to attack, without success.
