About

Bocadève's alignment is a megalithic alignment located in Saint-Just in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine.

Description: The alignment extends over 370 m in length according to an almost perfect east-west orientation (azimut 83°). It consists of 65 blocks, mostly quartz, ranging in height from 0.30 m to 1 m. The east end of the alignment was damaged by a fire in 1976, only the largest blocks remained in place. The western end consists of small blocks. Blocks n°2 and n°3 are nearly 50 m apart, but this can be explained by the purple shale outcrops at this site that have been exploited. Three megalithic structures (named A, B and C) are visible north of the alignment at a distance of 10 m to 50 m. Building A, in purple shale, could be a menhir (length 3.40 m, width 1 m, thickness 0.50 m). Building B consists of two parallel blocks, one in purple shale (length 2.20 m, width 1.20 m, thickness 0.40 m), the other in white quartz (length 1.70 m, width 0.50 m, thickness 0.50 m). Building C would be a dolmen with a short corridor decorated with menhirs, the same...
