maison de l'Histoire de France
The Maison de l'histoire de France is an abandoned project of a museum institution dedicated to the history of France, developed during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, with the premises of the Archives nationales, especially the Hôtel de Soubise, located. Created in early 2011 in the form of a prefiguration association, chaired by Jean-François Hebert, it became a public administrative establishment on January 1, 2012, whose president is Maryvonne de Saint-Pulgent. The initial objective is to transfer the National Archives Museum to the institution; In view of the ongoing controversy, the two institutions must then, depending on the project, share the site.
Like the Musée des Archives nationales, the Maison de l'histoire de France was to present, on the one hand, a permanent journey around emblematic documents, on the other hand, regular exhibitions, symposia and conferences. It was also intended to bring together several museums of art history or history. The project was criticized by many historians and had also raised protests within the National Archives.
