The building of this basilica lasted from 1883 to 1887 under the leadership of Abbé Louis Bernard, parish priest from 1882 to 1889. The church was inaugurated in 1887 and named Lepante, referring to the name of the naval battle of Lepante between Turks and Christians in 1571. It was elevated to the rank of minor basilica in 2004 by Pope John Paul II. The building is referenced in the Mérimée base and in the General Inventory Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The ensemble formed by the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire and its outbuildings is the subject of an inscription under the title of Historic Monuments by order of 27 January 2025. Many objects are referenced in the Palissy database (see related records).
