The château de Saint-Germain, or château Saint-Germain, located in the commune of Gaugeac, in the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, can be considered an advanced fort of the very powerful château de Biron which could neither monitor nor control traffic in the narrow valley of the Dropt. Since 1984, it has been listed and classified as historical monuments.
