The route de la Bonette connects the valley of the Ubaye (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) to that of the Tinée (Alpes-Maritimes) by the Col de la Bonette in the French Alps. It allows a link between Grenoble and Nice close to the French-Italian border. Much of the road between Jausiers and Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée is located in a protected area of Mercantour National Park.
The part of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is a communal road (C1) and the part of the Alpes-Maritimes is a metropolitan road (M2205). The road is closed in winter.
