About

The Aux Morts monument of the Champagne Army was inaugurated in 1924. Its purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers during the First World War in Champagne. It is also called "Navarin Ossuary" or "Navarin Monument".

It is located in the department of Marne (51), on the D 977 between Sommepy-Tahure and Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus, near the former Navarin Farm, on the territory of the communes of Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus and Sainte-Marie-à-Py. The monument is located in the municipality of Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus but the plot also extends over Sainte-Marie-à-Py. The monument and the ossuary were included in the inventory of historical monuments on 27 January 1994.

By decree of 8 April 2019, the Navarin monument became National Necropolis.
