basilique Notre-Dame de Sion
The basilica Notre-Dame de Sion is a minor basilica erected by Pope Pius XI and of Catholic worship built on the hill of Sion-Vaudémont, in the municipality of Saxon-Sion, in the natural region of Saintois located south of Nancy (department of Meurthe-et-Moselle). High place of Marian devotion of the Duchy of Lorraine, the Dukes came on pilgrimage to the hill of Sion. Like other places of pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it is located in a place where the ancient Romans came to worship the Latin goddesses, succeeding a Celtic high-place.
