About

Belleperche Castle was a castle, now extinct, located on the present municipality of Bagneux, in the Allier. It was the seat of one of Bourbonnais' chestnuts. Belleperche was the scene of an important episode of the Hundred Years' War: in 1369-1370, Louis II, Duke of Bourbon, made the siege of the fortress to try to deliver his mother, Isabelle de Valois, held prisoner by gascon roadmen.
