About

The church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Morembert is one of the wood-paned churches of the Pays du Der in Champagne. Morembert is a small town in the Aube department. She was at the dean of Margerie and an outbuilding of the parish of Vaucogne. The first mention is a seigneurial chapel in the 16th century founded by Anne de Saint-Belin and her husband John III de Boutigny. She was placed under the name of Saint John who was the patron of M. de Boutigny. The present church seems to be the same building and is 12 m long, 6.1 m wide and 4.5 m high; It's on a rectangular plane. In his furniture it is worth noting:

Baptismal fonts of the 16th century in limestone carrying a diamond shield, of azure with three heads of ram of silver, tied with gold 2 and 1 which are the weapons of Anne of Saint-Belin. A shield loaded with six medium-relief cut bees (3 in chief, 2 in fascist and 1 in point): probably the arms of Jean de Boutigny. A processional cross of the 16th century.
