château d'Ombreval
The castle of Ombreval (or Neuville) is a large building located in Neuville-sur-Saône (Rhône), built from 1586 to 1593 by Archbishop Pierre d'Épinac. It was bought and enlarged from 1653 by Camille de Neufville de Villeroy, also archbishop, who made it a "splendourful princely residence" where he received Louis XIV, the Grand Condé, etc. Ranked a historic monument in 1927, it has been owned since 1961 by the commune of Neuville-sur-Saône, which has profoundly redesigned it and installed the town hall.
