About

The castle of Caumale, dating from the 12th and 19th centuries, is located in the town of Escalans, in the French department of Landes. It is listed as a Historic Monument on January 31, 2002. Having resisted the Hundred Years War and the Wars of Religion, it was transformed into a pleasure castle by the Delisle colonials before becoming a wine-growing castle producing Armagnac. It is open to the public every summer.

Presentation: The castle of Caumale, of medieval style, is surrounded by walls of enclosures, transformed and opened into cellars. Two low towers of the 12th century remain, the other five are 15th 16th century.
