About

The Château de Roussillon is a pleasure castle, rebuilt in 1552 in a Renaissance style, which stands in the commune of Roussillon in the department of Isère in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This building is the only Renaissance style castle in the department. Since 1872, and after numerous renovations, the castle houses the town hall of the commune.

More recently, the tourist office of Roussillon has also made a place on the ground floor in the west wing of this building. Nowadays the whole castle is visited. It is thus possible to discover the cardinal's apartments located on the second floor of the new castle.

The facades and roofs, the entire west wing, all the interiors of the second floor and the stairway with open core wall of the central body are classified as historical monuments by order of 14 November 1997. The ground floor and the first floor, with the exception of classified parts, are partially registered as historic monuments by order of 14 November 1997.
