Description: Château de Saint-Martin de Toques is a medieval building perched on a rocky promontory, offering panoramic views of the Corbières. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, this castle was used to monitor strategic roads linking the Viscount of Narbonne to the Corbières region.
Location: The castle is located in the commune of Bizanet, in the French department of Aude. It is about 2.4 km from Fontfroide Abbey. It is located to the south of the commune, near the D613, an important road linking the various points of interest of the region.
History: Around 1020, a Guilrelmus Hibrini paid tribute and took the oath of fidelity to the Viscount of Narbonne and his wife for the castles of Durban and Saint Martin de Toques. He was probably part of the Durban family that was part of the entourage of Narbonne's house.
