About

The National Alpine Botanical Conservatory (CBNA) is a public establishment founded in 1988 dedicated to the knowledge and preservation of the flora and vegetation of the French Alps and their piedmonts. It is one of the 12 national botanical conservatories (CBNs) approved by the Ministry of the Environment. Its leisure territory covers a large part of the flora of the French Alps, located in the departments of Ain, Drôme, Isère, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes. The accreditation gives four missions to the national botanical conservatories:

knowledge of wild flora and natural and semi-natural habitats conservation in situ and ex-situ of rare and threatened elements of flora and habitats expertise on behalf of the State and local authorities public information and education Since 1 January 2017, the technical coordination of CBNs has been ensured by the new French Agency for Biodiversity.
